Safety is another core value of EMP because we care about our employees and providing a safe working environment for everyone. Over the past 10 years, we’ve incurred only eight (8) OSHA Recordables in total, all of them minor in nature, and we typically operate for more than 365 days in-between incidents. In fact, there were only three annual reporting periods where we achieved less than 365 consecutive days between OSHA Recordables, and when there was an incident, EMP never had more than 2 OSHA injuries in any given year.
In comparing EMP to our peers, EMP has an EMOD (Experience Modification Rate) of 0.77, which means EMP is rated much better than our peers in safety and accident prevention. The EMOD is a rating factor used in the insurance industry to compare employers’ historical claims and payroll data to their peers in similar business operations. The lower the number the better, and to score consistently below an EMOD rating of 0.90 is considered outstanding.
Safety has always been EMP’s number one priority. It’s a part of our culture, and the data supports this.
